Murugan, who was played by Dhanush, he left his village which is Sangarapuram in Theni district since he wants to get more than owning his father’s cultural idli shop. He has dreamt of becoming a popular chef and to work in a hostel management. So he got a job under Ashwin, who is in Arun Vijay, which is in a more modern, and more modernised food business setup.

While Murugan’s father Sinvanesan still continues to run the traditional small idli shop, which keeps the tradition so alive. Meanwhile, his relationship gets rough becuase of Murugan’s ideas of modernized ideas for fast efficiency  and for profit etc., a fights with his father’s  traditional beliefs in conciderate with the authenticity, taste and custom.

Meanwhile has something happened., the betrayal among by peoples which Murugan who worked under with Ashwin that collapse the Murugan’s career. Which has forced Murugan to go back to his village and face his traumas and past, and shakes with the states of leaving his roots.  Murugan was somehow forced to protect his father’s tradition shop (The Idli Shop) which could save the values of tradition, family, profits and success. He faced many challenges which has posed by modernized culture and the betrayal he has faced.

This movie beautifies the emotions of the family and custom. Murugan’s path from going to his modern dreams to back to his traditionalised roots, which proves that the true champions are not only made with the profit, but about getting the values and save their identity. This film has given a heartfelt show which reminds us how the world is getting changed among the love for our family and respect towards our tradition which is always timeless.
